Parthenia of Good Hope

The 1817 slave register for John Tharp's Good Hope plantation lists four children with a mother called Parthenia: Scipio (b. 1802), Obing aka Oben (b. 1804), Peggy (b. 1808) and Joe (b. 1813).

Parthenia was also listed in the 1817 register, where she was estimated to be 42 years old (b. 1775). Like her children, she was described as creole (born in Jamaica) and Negro (of entirely African heritage).
